Bringing to/Picking up

Bringing your child to kindergarten

If the child does not take part in the breakfast, it can be brought to the facility between 8:30 am and 8:55 am, as the morning circle begins at 9:00 am. Children will not be accepted after the morning circle. In special cases, exceptions can be communicated to the educators in good time.

Picking up your child

In order to conclude the day in a quiet and well-ordered way, we ask all parents to pick up the children at certain times. The times desired by the educators are 3 pm, 3:30 pm and between 4 pm and 5 pm.

Breakfast is served from 8:00 to 8:20. It is purchased by the educators and, if necessary, prepared together with the children. Sliced fruits are left standing on the breakfast table and can be eaten between meals. In addition to the snacks offered, the children can also enjoy drinks during the whole day. If we have to go early, for example, to gymnastics or the forest, the early brought children can eat a small snack between 7:45 and 8:00 o’clock, for example oatmeal or cornflakes and fresh fruits.

The lunch mainly from organic cultivation was delivered by our „Kichererbsen“ and is taken at about 12 o’clock together by the children and the staff. We pay attention to a well-balanced, healthy full-food diet, although there are sometimes child-friendly exceptions. For activities outside the facility the food is taken along, or eaten at a later date.

In the afternoon, a snack is offered. Normally, there are sandwiches with hearty toppings and / or raw fruits and vegetables.

At the special request of the parents, we offer purely organic food for breakfast and dinner.

Since the summer of 2014 Spieltraum Friedrichshain has been practicing a bilingual concept. German and English are spoken in equal parts and the use of two languages is a part of the self-understanding of the children entrusted to us. Even if a large part of the phonological development has already been completed at the time of the entry into our institution, at the time of the first year of life, word production and lexical development begin, which are decisively influenced by the introduction of the second language. Our bilingual concept is therefore also intended to explicitly give children without an international background the opportunity to get in touch with a foreign language at an early stage and to learn in a playful way in everyday life.

Each of the three groups is supervised by three educators, at least one of whom is a German native speaker and at least one English native speaker. Language learning is thus based on the immersion approach used in basic education, where pupils are taught by the outset in a foreign language in order to allow the child to “immerse” completely into the language.
